Name:

I am a traveller on my way Home, passing through this little land. It's a lovely place, though nothing compared to where I'm heading, I was told. I have journeyed through several valleys. Not the kindest place I must say. But hey, I've had some "mountain top" experiences too. They made me long for Home. I heard there are no valleys at Home. I have met some fellow travellers along the way. But mostly find myself among locals. If you're local, please bear with my quirkiness. I know my accent and ways are puzzling sometimes. If you're a fellow traveller, keep going. We should be reaching soon. Bon voyage!

The First Time

I have always been intrigued by this U2 song. I couldn't quite figure out the meaning of it. I know it has sometimg to do with God but I still don't get the whole message, especially the last bit about leaving by the back door and throwing away the keys. Today I decided to google it to see if I can find any clue. And this was what I found.

This song is most likely a beautiful way of reflecting on the Holy Trinity. It speaks of the different gifts or each member of the Trinity. Lover=Holy Spirit, Brother=Jesus, Father= Father God. And the final reminder of what the Father is trying to give and how apt we are to refuse it. This solves the last part for me. Beautiful.

The First Time by U2

I have a lover
A lover like no other
She got soul, soul, soul, sweet soul
And she teach me how to sing
Shows me colours when there's none to see
Gives me hope when I can't believe
That for the first time
I feel love

I have a brother
When I'm a brother in need
I spend my whole time running
He spends his running after me
When I feel myself going down
I just call and he comes around
But for the first time
I feel love

My father is a rich man
He wears a rich man's cloak
Gave me the keys to his kingdom coming
Gave me a cup of gold
He said I have many mansions
And there are many rooms to see
But I left by the back door
And I threw away the key
And I threw away the key
Yeah, I threw away the key
Yeah, I threw away the key

For the first time
For the first time
For the first time
